Matheson Farms Steer is Grand Champion Carcass of Merit Winner
Congratulations to Jaymee Graves on her recent wins with her Matheson Farms steer “Chinook”.
He was the Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer at the Island County Fair and best of all, he was the Grand Champion Carcass of Merit steer and the top gaining steer in the contest. Chinook is a purebred Simmental. Jaymee did an excellent job raising and showing her steer. Once again, congratulations Jaymee! Your hard work has paid off.
When planning for the next calf crop, we select for for several traits including the quality of the meat. I am happy to say it’s making a difference.

Matheson Farms Steer Wins for Oregon Youth
Gabrielle Alley of Culver, Oregon and her Market Steer “Rob the Heartthrob” had a successful fair in central Oregon. Rob, (aka Borg Boy) purchased from Matheson Farms by Bar CK Cattle Company at the Western Harvest Showcase Sale was the Reserve Champion. Gabrielle and Rob also won the Showmanship Contest.
Congrats to Gabrielle and thank you to the Alley family for purchasing the steer.

There were many big changes in 2010 our Matheson Farms grass fed beef business. This website is one of them. Having an internet presence has greatly raised the visibility of Matheson Fams. We also introduced our ag websites www.sustainableagresource.com and www.sustainableageducation.com . Please check those out when you get a chance. There are several interesting articles, a business directory, and useful products.
We also started Raincrow Film LLC,our video production service. Check out www.raincrowfilm.com and www.raincrowfarmvideo.com .
Also, in 2010, with the help of the new website, we began to expand our Grass Fed Beef business. Now, in 2011, we are proud to announce that we are now supplying grass fed beef to the Bellingham area Community Food Co-ops. We also have a new logo for our grass fed beef. It was created by John D. Mitchell.
Finally, we are really excited about our 2011 calf crop develop. We were able to breed the majority the cows to some of the top bulls in the Simmental and Angus breeds. They should be the best calf crop ever!
